The Vice President of Aftermarket will lead the strategic direction and execution of all aspects of Hutson’s Aftermarket Division in Michigan, ensuring operational excellence, financial performance, and an exceptional customer experience. This role requires a seasoned leader with deep expertise in aftermarket operations, strong business acumen, and a proven ability to drive growth, profitability, and customer loyalty. The VP will collaborate closely with operations, finance, human resources, and customer support teams to align aftermarket strategies with overall company objectives, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement across the organization.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute a strategic vision for the Aftermarket Division aligned with Hutson Inc.’s mission, values, and business goals.
  • Partner with the COO and VP of Operations Excellence & Digital to establish ambitious yet achievable growth, profitability, and performance objectives.
  • Analyze market trends and competitive intelligence to proactively identify new services, product offerings, partnership, and growth initiatives that generate revenue and strengthen market position.

Operations and Business Management

  • Oversee the execution of the Service Playbook, with emphasis on labor performance, quoting accuracy, WIP management, pricing and discounting discipline, process adherence, consistency, and full utilization of available systems and tools.
  • Lead planning and execution of key capital investments (CapEx) and facility expansion projects, ensuring aftermarket capacity supports growth strategies and operational needs.
  • Drive growth initiatives by expanding and overseeing Service Maintenance Agreements (SMAs) to generate predictable revenue and deliver measurable customer value, while supporting marketing efforts through increased inspection volume, residual sales, and effective execution of targeted promotions.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Build and sustain a culture of accountability with clear expectations, performance monitoring, and consistent execution of aftermarket strategies.
  • Lead technician growth and development efforts, including recruiting, retention, and apprenticeship initiatives to expand and strengthen the workforce.
  • Collaborate with HR to recruit, develop, and mentor top talent; provide coaching in sales execution, product expertise, time management, and negotiation.
  • Ensure comprehensive training programs are in place to strengthen technical knowledge, customer engagement, and sales effectiveness, leveraging vendor training and localized marketing initiatives.

Customer Relations

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, dealers, and service partners to strengthen loyalty and ensure long-term retention.
  • Champion customer satisfaction initiatives by creating feedback loops, addressing escalated concerns promptly, and driving process improvements to enhance customer experience.

Cross Departmental Collaboration

  • Partner with sales, precision ag, marketing, and finance teams to ensure alignment between aftermarket strategies and company-wide objectives.
  • Act as a liaison between the sales, precision development, and corporate strategy teams to ensure operational integration and consistent messaging.

Continuous Improvement and Performance Management

  • Regularly analyze operational KPIs, customer feedback, and industry trends to identify opportunities for innovation, efficiency, and cost optimization.
  • Utilize custom-built KPIs to drive actionable insights, improve decision-making, and ensure the Aftermarket Division consistently meets performance and profitability goals.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement, adaptability, and operational excellence across all aftermarket functions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in aftermarket, operations, or related business functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead with integrity, strategic vision, and operational discipline.
  • Strong understanding of advanced business planning, financial principles, and regulatory considerations.
  • Proven analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and drive performance improvements.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to anticipate and mitigate risks.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.

  • Ability to make accurate observations and assessments of facilities, structures, and equipment.
  • Visual acuity sufficient to safely operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
